Scrubs
A surreal hospital sitcom that balances broad comedy with genuine emotional weight across nine seasons; the series is consistently adult-oriented in its humour but rarely graphic. This report covers the full original run (2001-2010).
Episodes to know about
"My Old Lady" - each of the three lead interns cares for a patient who dies by the end of the episode; one patient has a DNR; the episode is emotionally intense and focuses squarely on confronting death in medicine.
"My Screw Up" - a close friend of Dr. Cox dies; the episode withholds this information from the viewer until its final moments, making the reveal unexpectedly heavy.
"My Lunch" / "My Fallen Idol" - a patient is initially believed to have died by suicide via overdose; her death and missed signs of depression are discussed at length. The actual cause turns out to be unrelated.
