The Great Escape

Movie · 1963

A nearly three-hour World War II adventure in which Allied POWs plan and execute a mass tunnel breakout from a German camp, based on a true story. The film is largely a suspense-and-ingenuity picture, but its final act deals frankly with pursuit, death by gunfire, and the execution of prisoners.
