The Odyssey
Christopher Nolan's R-rated epic adaptation of Homer's poem follows Odysseus on his decade-long journey home from the Trojan War through encounters with monsters, gods, and mortal enemies. Violence is the dominant content concern -- sustained, visceral, and earned -- with supporting layers of mild sexuality, partial nudity, and significant animal harm.
Adults and mature older teens comfortable with war-scale action violence and horror-register creature sequences.

Trojan War flashback sequences depict large-scale battle carnage -- swords, spears, burning city -- with on-screen deaths and bloodshed.
Odysseus and his men are trapped with Polyphemus, who devours several soldiers; the sequence is claustrophobic and horror-register, culminating in the graphic blinding of the giant with a sharpened implement.
The Cyclops appears fully unclothed; genitals are hidden in shadow throughout.
